All answers at a glance – filtered by topic or searched directly.

How can I sell my metal at the best price?

At MKM Metals you have a price guarantee. You're welcome to check with other buyers, but we always have the best price. Should this not be the case, then please tell us the offer and we will gladly follow!

Which metals do you accept?

We accept all metals such as iron/steel, copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, lead, zinc, copper cables or other cables. The exact list can be found in our metal tool.

Do I need an appointment?

When delivery, pay attention to the opening times of our contact points. Otherwise, you can sell the scrap metal online at any time and then receive your credit paid out after weighing.

Can I get a higher price for peeled copper cables?

Yes, pure copper from copper cable can achieve a higher price than conventional copper cable (incl. Insulation).

How is the price per kg determined?

Mostly from daily prices paid on the stock exchange. This is then broken down into the region and the providers accordingly and the current daily price for the metal purchase is determined from it. Also crucial are grade, purity and quantity.

Can you pick up the metal from us?

Yes, you can also choose a pick-up when selling the metal. Depending on the distance to us, costs will be incurred. They should therefore check all delivery options beforehand and then opt for the cheapest delivery method. If you have any questions, please contact us via Whatsapp or telephone at +49 176 6577 0862

Does MKM Metals offer a collection or container?

Both! We offer containers that you can fill on site. Then we pick up the containers and you will receive the credit. With pure collection, we will collect the metals from you with our vehicles and then make the payment to you. We have a special service for companies: you can permanently set up our containers in your company. We will pick up the containers from you after an agreed period of time, bring them to the scales and pay you the daily price for them.

How will my credit be paid?

Your credit will be paid out in cash, by bank transfer or via PayPal. We're flexible.

Are there scales from certain quantities?

Yeah. For each grade there is a quantity scale: The displayed price applies to every quantity, from a certain quantity we pay more. Where the border lies depends on the value of the grade – for copper Millberry, the second stage begins earlier than for iron scrap, because there are already a few kilos of land. The season is on each grade page, and in the shopping cart you can see how much is still missing until the next stage. The reason is simple: Weighing, sorting and calculating costs us about the same amount each process – with larger quantities this is less important, and we give away from that.

Does MKM also purchase from private companies or only from companies?

Both – we buy from private and from companies. We are pleased to offer companies our comprehensive service. Feel free to contact us!

Which types of metal do they bring the most?

Typical: clean, bare copper/alu/brass > clean scrap. Bad, on the other hand, is heavily contaminated scrap metal. Cable is evaluated by copper content. Prices for all metals are relatively stable, but for copper the price is fluctuating. Check out before you sell.

How is the metal weighed – can I check it?

Of course! They can be there directly when weighing and understand it on the scale. In the case of online sales, you will receive the pictures and then receive the weighing slip.

Do you also accept batteries and batteries?

Nope. We do not accept batteries and batteries of any kind – neither starter batteries nor device batteries, either from private or from the trade. The Battery Ordinance applies to the return of batteries: the dealer who sells batteries is obliged to take back batteries free of charge; in addition, municipal recyclables courts accept them. On the other hand, we buy pure lead without housing and acid – this runs as lead for us and has nothing to do with a battery.

You're paying cash?

Yeah. In case of self-delivery in Ludwigshafen you can choose between cash payment on site and bank transfer. Cash payment is possible against ID card template up to € 9,999; we pay higher amounts by bank transfer – this is what the Money Laundering Act requires. When selling online with shipping or collection, we will transfer the amount within 24 hours of the calibrated weighing.

Do you also purchase large quantities or entire operating resolutions?

Yeah. We take over production residues, stocks and complete operating or plant resolutions – Germany-wide with its own fleet of vehicles, container configuration and industrial dismantling. We also buy special grades such as stainless steel V2A (1.4301) or V4A in tons. Request an offer, we will contact you within one working day.

Do you also make household resolutions or accept furniture?

No, household resolutions and furniture are not part of our offer – we specialize in metals and scrap. On the other hand, we like to buy metal parts such as radiators, pipes, cables or electric motors from a resolution.

Are you putting containers in place for scrap?

Yeah. For business, industry and construction sites we place containers in different sizes and pick them up after filling. The material value will be credited to you; the collection costs depend on the distance to our factory in Ludwigshafen.

Do you also purchase used machines and systems?

Yeah. We evaluate the machines and systems that are worth preserving – for example from dismantling or operating tasks – as used goods, which often bring more than just scrap. We check every time we disassemble what can be resold.

How's the sale going from another city?

You have two ways to do this: up to 1,000 kg in total, you send your scrap metal by DHL in packages of a maximum of 31.5 kg – the shipping labels come from us by e-mail, 6 € per package will be charged with the payment. From 500 kg we will pick you up with our own fleet; the collection costs are staggering after the distance (40–350 €).

Which stainless steel goods do you buy?

We buy the usual qualities V2A (1.4301 / AISI 304) and V4A (1.4571 / 1.4404) – from individual containers to tons of dismantling or production. The daily prices can be found in the metal purchase under stainless steel.

What do you get for four alloy wheels at the scrap dealer?

That depends on the weight and condition. A set of four rims weighs about 30 to 60 kilograms depending on the inch size. Multiplying with the daily price for clean alloy rims results in the proceeds – the table above anticipates it for each size. If tyres, balance weights or valves are still attached, the product falls into the lower grade.

Do you accept aluminium wheels with tires?

Yes, but at a much lower price. The tire has to go down, and we'll do this job. In addition, a tire that is pulled up weighs eight to twelve kilograms, which are on the scales but are not aluminium. If you have the tire removed before, you will get the price for clean goods.

How do I know if my rims are made of aluminium or steel?

With a magnet: it adheres to steel rims, not to aluminium rims. We also buy steel rims, but they run as scrap iron and bring a fraction. Do not throw both together – a mixture is evaluated according to the weaker portion.

Is it worth taking off the balance weights beforehand?

Almost always. It takes about two minutes per rim, and the distance between clean and unclean goods is considerable. Balancing weights are usually made of lead or zinc, the valve often carries a steel core – both make a clean rim an unclean one.

Does the disposal of scrap metal cost anything, or do I get money for it?

You receive payment. Acceptance is free, including for mixed deliveries. Charges apply only to additional services such as collection, priced by distance, or container provision. These charges are agreed before the order and deducted from your payment. There is no charge for self-delivery.

Where can I deliver copper, brass or scrap metal?

On our farm in Industriestraße 4 in 67063 Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, without appointment. Stay further away: You can ship up to 1,000 kg, from 500 kg we pick up Germany-wide with our own fleet. The kilo price is the same in all three ways.

Why don't you call a fixed kilo price?

There is no single fixed price. Metal quotations follow the global market and change daily; we review our prices against them every day. Material grade also matters: bright copper wire and a plug cable containing around 30% copper have very different values. Prices for all grades are listed on the Metal Prices page. The final payment is confirmed after certified weighing.

Is brass valuable – is it worth selling?

Yeah. Brass is a copper alloy, and its value depends on it: It's clearly above iron scrap. It is best rated without iron screws, plastic handles and seals. Gunmetal contains additional tin and achieves even more. Even a bucket of fittings is worth the way.

What good does stainless steel bring to the scrap dealer?

Significantly more than iron – how much depends on the alloy. V2A (1,4301, often called Nirosta) is the most common grade; V4A additionally contains molybdenum and is paid higher. A magnet gives only a first hint, the alloys he can't distinguish. Separate both: In the mixture, the whole delivery is evaluated according to the weaker grade.

How much is a ton of scrap?

That depends on what's in it. For iron and steel scrap, weight is the main factor; the kilo price is in the range of less cents. If non-ferrous metal is inserted in it – copper windings, brass fittings, aluminium profiles – the value increases many times. For mixed deliveries, the price is obtained during the evaluation; for larger quantities we call it in advance in the offer.

Do you buy circuit boards and boards?

Yeah. We buy circuit boards and boards. There is no fixed kilo price for this – it depends on the type of boards and is therefore not included in the price list. Request it via the offer form or call; a photo will help us more than any description.

Do you buy neodymium magnets?

Yeah. We buy neodymium magnets – they are included in hard drives, loudspeakers and electric motors. There is no fixed kilo price for this; give us the quantity and origin via the offer form, then you get the current rate.

What is cable peel lead, and do you buy it?

Cable peel lead is the lead jacket of old earth and telecommunications cables, which remains when peeling. For us, the lead scrap is: we buy it and count it as lead. As is the case with all lead: it brings the most varietal and free of iron and plastic adhesions.

What do I get for steel rims?

Steel wheels are iron scrap and are billed at the scrap price – significantly less than aluminium wheels. A magnet distinguishes both in seconds: it adheres to steel, not to aluminium. Do not throw the grades together; a mixture is evaluated according to the weaker portion.

Are you buying catalysts?

Yeah. The price depends heavily on the type and is therefore not included in the price list – we call it on request. Send us a photo of the catalyst via the offer form and, if available, the stamped identification number; then you will receive reliable information.

What is the current copper price?

The copper price follows the stock exchange quotation and changes daily – therefore, there is no fixed number, only one daily price. Our verified purchase prices for each copper grade are shown in the table above, each with the date of its last change. What you get specifically depends on the grade: Between a blank Millberry wire and a plug cable with a low conductor content lie in the worlds of proceeds.

What is the difference between copper and copper?

The copper price from the news is the listing for pure copper on the stock exchange. Waste copper lies below it: The scrap metal must be sorted, processed and transported, and hardly any delivery is chemically pure. The closer a grade approaches pure copper – for example, bare, insulation-free wire – the less distance to the listing.

What is Copper Millberry and why is it best paid?

Millberry is the trade name for blank, insulation-free copper wire with metallic shiny surface. It is the cleanest grade that regularly arrives in the farm and needs the least preparation – so it is at the top of the price table. Started, lacquered or tinned scrap metal does not count as a millberry, but runs one step below it.

What's 100 kg of copper worth?

Take the daily price of the grade times 100 – the table on this page calculates it for 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 kilograms. The amount shown shall be the best classification. If insulation, soldering tin or iron is still attached to it, it is evaluated according to the correspondingly lower grade. In the end, the calibrated weighing is decisive.

How much is copper scrap worth?

There is not one copper scrap price, but one per grade. Purity and conductor content are crucial: bare wire, pipes and collecting rails, mixed cables or plugs are classified differently. For each grade, those who separate pure grades get their own price instead of a mixed valuation according to the weakest proportion.

Is it worth stripping copper cables before the sale?

It's on the cross-section. With strong cables with a high conductor content, stripping is almost always expected, with fine plug cables with multiple sheathing rarely – the effort exceeds the difference there. The ladder portion decides which grade will reach at the end – you can read the distance between the grades on the daily price.

Why is there no stock listing for carbide?

Carbide itself is not traded on any stock exchange. The price comes from its components: tungsten runs as a concentrate and as an APT with a quotation published in the metal trade, the cobalt binder is listed on the London Metal Exchange. This includes the cobalt content of the grade and the cleanliness of the goods. Therefore, the table shows a purchase price per grade and not a stock exchange price.

How do I distinguish a VHM drill from a HSS drill?

At weight: solid carbide is almost twice as dense as high-speed steel, a VHM drill is remarkably heavy in the hand. The magnet attracts both, HSS strong, carbide only weakly over the cobalt binder. Clearly, the fracture sample is: carbide breaks brittle with fine grained, dark grey surface, HSS bends beforehand. HSS we run as our own kind.

What attachments are pulling down the price of carbide?

Steel in particular: brazed drills with steel shaft, carrier blades of carbide-tipped circular saws, basic bodies of milling cutters and clamp holders. In addition, cooling lubricant and emulsion, which weigh in grinding dust and chip containers, as well as wood and plastic residues of saw blades. Coatings such as TiN or TiAlN are very thin and do not matter.

Is there a minimum quantity of carbide from which it is worthwhile to send in?

There is no minimum quantity, only the minimum payment of 25 euros — which a bucket of indexable inserts quickly reaches because carbide is dense and highly valued. More of the same still brings more: Each grade has a set scale, from whose limit we pay a higher rate. Who's on the go Of a kind used in the manufacture of motor vehicles, better collect up to the barrel. Delivering goes without appointment in Ludwigshafen, send in Germany-wide by parcel.

Do I have to remove inserts from the steel cassettes?

Yeah, or the tape will weigh without being carbide. Loose plates from sorting boxes, trays and tool holders belong in a separate container, the holders themselves are steel scrap. The same applies to plates that still sit in milling heads: loosen screws, remove plates. A quarter of an hour on a box separates the best classification from a mixed one.

Why is brass 63 rated higher than brass 58?

Because of the copper content. Brass is a copper-zinc alloy: MS58 is about 58 percent copper and contains lead as automatic brass, MS63 is around 63 percent. Both shares are listed on the London Metal Exchange, and copper is significantly higher than zinc — each percentage of copper increases its value. This is why the Brass several grades.

How can I see if a chrome-plated brass fitting is?

File or scratch at a hidden place: Under the chrome layer yellow metal appears in brass, silvery grey in chromed steel. The magnet decides with — brass is not magnetic, steel adheres. Weight and sound help us: Brass sounds bright when hit and is heavy in the hand, zinc die-cast sounds dull and breaks brittle.

Why do brass chips bring less than massive brass parts?

Because chips are all the same: cool emulsion and drill oil weigh with, fine chips oxidise more, and steel chips often end up in the same container from the next machine — a magnet through the box shows this in seconds. When melting, fine goods lose more than massive pieces. Dried and varietal chips stand better.

Is it worth collecting brass sleeves, chips and fittings separately?

Yeah. As a mixed item in a bucket, the delivery is valued according to the weakest proportion, each grade gets its own set separately. For this purpose, each grade has a quantity scale from which we pay more — more of the same brass brings twice. Three buckets cost nothing. We accept small quantities in Ludwigshafen without an appointment, larger quantities come Germany-wide by parcel or collection.

Do you buy brass cartridge sleeves?

Yes, as brass sleeves — from the shooting level as well as from a estate. They must be shot down and completely empty; sharp ammunition is not scrap metal and remains outside. Steel sleeves are not part of this, the magnet separates them in a passageway. You better sort out bullets with lead core and plastic plugs from shotgun cartridges before.

Why is gunmetal above brass?

At the alloy: Gunmetal like Rg5 (CuSn5Zn5Pb5) contains around 85 percent copper and about five percent tin. Brass comes out with 58 to 63 percent copper, the rest is the cheaper zinc. Tin is the most expensive of the metals involved in the London Metal Exchange — copper and tin are driving the red-cast price together. That's why separating from brass is worth it.

How do I distinguish cast red from brass?

At the color of a fresh wedge or interface: gunmetal looks reddish to salmon, brass yellow. At the shape: Gunmetal is cast material — valve body, pump housing, water meter, often with rough casting skin and cast seam, while brass is usually pressed, turned or available as sheet metal. Gunmetal sounds duller, and the fracture surface is grainy instead of tough.

Which parts on gunmetal fittings press the price?

Everything that weighs, without being non-ferrous metal: spindles and springs made of steel, stainless steel sieves, ceramic cartridges, plastic handles, rubber seals, glass and counters in water meters, with residual water in closed housings. Chrome-plated surfaces are uncritical, the layer is thin. Pliers and pipe keys get out most of it in a few minutes.

Is it worth a few gunmetal parts, or should I collect?

Both go. Gunmetal is dense: a bucket of valves and fittings weighs more than it looks, and is usually above the minimum payment of 25 euros. From the Rhine-Neckar area you can get small quantities without appointment in Ludwigshafen In the case of the For shipping it is worth collecting: Each package costs 6 euros, and from the scale limit we pay more.

Do you buy bronze like plain bearings or ship screws as gunmetal?

Tin bronze and gunmetal are closely related, both are copper-tin alloys; in our list is the type gunmetal, there you enter bronze parts when selling. The important thing is the separation of composite parts: plain bearing shells with steel back and bushings, which are still sitting in the steel housing, are not pure non-ferrous metal. It is calculated according to the actual grade.

Why is aluminium cast rated differently than bare aluminium profiles?

The quotation for primary aluminium on the London metal exchange is only the starting point; it is put in dollars, so the exchange rate is involved. The difference is made by the alloy: Blank profiles are AlMgSi-Knetware and go back almost unchanged to recovery. Casting contains silicon and copper and becomes cast again. Therefore, both grades are separated in the table.

How do I distinguish aluminium from zinc die casting?

The weight, and the difference is large: zinc diecasting is about two and a half times as dense as aluminium, a Zamak handle has a lead-weight effect. Aluminium sounds brighter, zinc dull when hit. When bending, aluminium gives in, zinc die casting breaks brittle and shows a coarse-grained, glittering fracture surface. Magnetic is neither, the magnet doesn't help here.

Do I have to remove rubber seals and steel screws from aluminium profiles?

Yeah, that's what the classification is on. Window and façade profiles include glass residues, seals, fittings and screws; insulating profiles also carry a plastic bridge between the shells. Eloxal is uncritical, thick powder coating or paint runs as its own grade. A magnet pulled over the profile finds every forgotten screw.

Does mixed aluminum bring less than varietally separate?

Yeah. Mixed aluminum is a separate, lower grade because it cannot be predicted which alloys are in it. Each grade gets its set separately: profiles, plates, castings, chips, rims. And because aluminium is light, kilograms only come together with volume — who collects reaches the scale limit and from 500 kilograms the Collection.

Does an aluminum engine block count as an aluminium cast?

As cast alloy yes, clean it is rare. Cylinder bushings made of grey cast iron, standing bolts, bearing shells and pass pins are usually still in it — a magnet finds them. Oil and coolant must be completely removed. The block is disassembled and magnet-free as aluminium cast, with steel components as mixed aluminium. You can deliver it to Ludwigshafen without an appointment.

Why is the price of stainless steel moving with the nickel price?

Because nickel is the most expensive alloy element and is listed on the London Metal Exchange: V2A contains about eight percent, V4A a good ten. Chromium is contained in it at about 18 percent, but is traded as ferrochrome and not on a stock exchange; the same applies to molybdenum in V4A. Therefore, the price of Stainless steel scrap Especially the nickel.

How do I know whether a sheet metal is V2A or V4A?

First at the material number: 1.4301 and 1.4307 are V2A, 1.4401, 1.4404 and 1.4571 are V4A. If the stamp is missing, the origin helps — chemistry, sewage treatment plant, swimming pool technology and seawater environment work with V4A. The magnet is not good: Both qualities are austenitic and become slightly magnetic due to cold forming on edges and cuts. I'm sure it's just a test with a measuring device.

Why are V2A chips under V2A waste?

Cooling lubricant hangs on chips, and it weighs with it. In addition, grinding dust from the same hall and the handle in the wrong container are added: structural steel chips in the stainless steel container are the most common reason for a lower classification — a magnet through the box makes them visible. Dripped, pressed and kept clean, chips are much better there.

Is it worth collecting V2A and V4A separately?

From the first grid box. In the mixture the whole delivery is evaluated according to the weaker quality, the advantage of the V4A is thus given away. Each goodness gets its own set, and each has its own set of sets, from which limit we pay more. Practically this means: two boxes instead of one, waste up to 1.5 meters long, chips in own containers. Picked up throughout Germany, delivered to Ludwigshafen without an appointment.

Do welded steel parts make scrap from a stainless steel container?

Not necessarily, but they're pulling down the classification. Foots, angles, frames and hinges made of mild steel can be seen at the seam: there the magnet adheres while it slips on the sheet metal. Saw or flex separate this in a few minutes. If insulating wool, galvanized fittings or plastic linings remain on it, they weigh with them without being stainless steel.

What is the price of tin and soldering?

The quotation for tin on the London Metal Exchange is clearly higher than copper, because few countries are producing and the supply is scarcely responding. In soldering, the tin content also decides: we produce grades of around 30 to 99 percent. The rest is mostly lead, and lead is many times cheaper. Therefore, the inscription of the coil belongs to the product.

How do I distinguish pure tin from soldering?

Pure tin is light silvery and so soft that it can be bent by hand; when bending, it crunches audiblely, the old tin cry. Soldering tin with lead content looks matter and greyer. The safest indication is on the article itself: coils and rods bear the designation, for example Sn60Pb40 or Sn99. Cups and dishes are usually stamped with tin content or Britannia.

What's the price on soldering sticks?

flux in the core of the wire, plastic coils on which the residual wire sits, and soldered copper from dissolving work. The most powerful is the soldering varnish: it is to a good extent oxide and, when melted in, returns less than bare goods. Wire wrapped from the coil, slag collected separately — so each grade remains at its set.

Is a small post worth soldering, or should I collect?

Both are carried out because tin is highly valued: just a few kilograms are above the minimum payment of 25 euros. Collecting is worth twice — each Package costs 6 Euro shipping costs, which depart from the payout, and each grade has a quantity squadron, from whose limit we pay more. From the Rhein-Neckar-Raum bring the cardboard to Ludwigshafen without an appointment.

Do you buy old tin cups and tin figures?

Yeah, like tin. Check the stamp beforehand: Information such as 95 percent or Britannia stands for high tin content, older dishes often contain lead and antimony. Also check the collector's value — in the case of guild cups, jugs and figures with a brand, it is often higher than the metal value. Felt, wooden handles and glass floors are predetermined.

What's the zinc price on?

At the listing for zinc on the London Metal Exchange. Zinc is mainly produced together with lead from the same ores, and most of it goes into galvanizing. A discount on the stock exchange price remains with the Altzink: zinc oxidizes at the surface, and when melted a part evaporates. Rolled zinc from roof and channel is therefore better there than rolled product.

Is galvanized steel zinc?

No, that's the most common mistake. Galvanized plates, pipes and fences are iron scrap with a few micrometers of thin zinc layer — the magnet adheres immediately. Pure zinc does not attract the magnet, can be bent, sounds dull and carries a uniformly grey oxide skin. A scratch sample creates clarity: for galvanized products, the bare steel is below it.

Do I have to remove bitumen and nails from the old zinc sheet?

Yeah, both weighs with no zinc. In the dismantling, roof board, bitumen, mortar, gutter iron and steel nails as well as old paints come along; rolled-up gutters full of foliage and mud are the classic. Soldered seams add lead and tin. Roughly knocked off, iron parts out, bitumen pieces separated — then rolling zinc remains with its kind.

Is a single zinc channel enough, or does it have to come together more?

A channel goes, but rarely comes over the minimum payment of 25 euros, because zinc sheet is thin and light. With a roof renewal, several hundred kilograms are quickly combined: from 500 kilograms we pick up all over Germany, including shipping up to 1,000 kilograms in packages of a maximum of 31.5 kilograms. Smaller quantities will take you to Ludwigshafen.

Do you buy zinc sacrificial anodes?

Yes, zinc anodes from boilers, storage, boats and steel structures run as zinc. The threaded bolt or steel core belongs out, otherwise it weighs with — sawn off this is done in a minute. Strongly consumed anodes do little because there is hardly any metal left. Also check if it is really zinc: Magnesium anodes are remarkably light.

What's the lead price on?

At the London Metal Exchange listing for lead. The demand is largely covered by recycled lead, so lead fluctuates more quietly than copper or tin. When buying, the grade also counts: Soft lead made of sheet metal and tube is above hard lead with antimony content. All grades are subject to: Lead and zinc.

How do I distinguish lead from zinc?

At weight: Lead is about one and a half times as dense as zinc, an equal piece is much heavier in the hand. Lead is soft — the fingernail leaves a trace, a sheet can be folded, the cut surface shines briefly and then starts to appear matte grey. Zinc is harder, sounds brighter and breaks instead of bending. Magnetic is neither.

Why does high-speed lead bring less than bare rolling lead?

Because the oxide layer disappears as scabs when melted — less is left of the product. In addition, what sticks to the lead: mortar and brick residues from the dismantling, old paints, soldered steel parts, dowels and screws, with long stored goods also earth. Lead wool from pipe sockets almost always comes with cement and rust and belongs collected separately.

Why does a larger item bring lead more than several small shipments?

Two things come together: each grade has a quantity scale, from whose limit we pay more, and each package costs 6 euros shipping costs, which depart from the payout. In the case of lead, the density is added — 31.5 kilograms per package are reached with a small cardboard box, and half a filled moving carton of rolled lead has long been too heavy. From 500 kilograms we pick up Germany-wide, you can deliver without appointment in Ludwigshafen.

Do you buy bullet lead from the ball?

Yeah, we run bullet lead as our own kind. It must be free of sand, earth and gravel, otherwise screening material weighs to a good part soil from the ball catch. Coat shells bring copper and partly steel; the magnet brings out steel cores. Sharp ammo, spark plugs and propellants are not part of the broadcast, only projectiles shot down.

Is there a minimum quantity for the tin purchase?

Nope. We weigh five kilos of solder leftovers as well as a pallet of bars. Only the transport route sets limits: by DHL up to 1,000 kg go Germany-wide, per package maximum 31.5 kg. We'll pick you up from 500 kg. You can deliver yourself without a minimum quantity in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. The minimum payout is 25 euros.

How do I know whether it's tin or just tinned sheet?

On the magnet. Tin is not magnetic, tinned steel sheet adheres immediately – in case of cans and white sheet the tin coating is only a few micrometers thick and weighs practically nothing. Genuine tin is also soft, the fingernail leaves a trace, and the fracture surface is coarsely grainy matte grey instead of reflecting.

What do I do with mixed solder residues and tin-lead mixtures?

You can hand them over together. Mixed solder residues run as soldering tin, lot with a high lead content as tin 30 percent. Those who separate are better off: an unseparated mixture is billed according to the grade that actually gives it, and this is usually the lower one. The initial classification is done during the sale itself.

How fast is the money coming?

We pay out within 24 hours of receipt of the weighing slip. Weighing on a calibrated scale, the weighing slip is yours. In the case of parcel shipping, 6 euros per package will be charged with the payment. The money laundering law requires an ID card from 1,000 euros.

Do you also buy from private individuals or just from businesses?

Both, and on the same terms. Private customers receive the weighing slip and the payment, without further effort. We charge companies by credit in accordance with § 14 para. 2 VATG; for scrap metal, the recipient of the benefit owes the tax in accordance with § 13b para. 2 no. 7 VATG.

Do I have to sort or clean the tin before?

Sorting is worthwhile, not cleaning. Separate pure tin, china tin and solder residue and remove iron parts such as screws, clamps and steel cores. Started surfaces, flux residues and light dirt do not interfere. Wet and earthy it should not arrive, because every foreign share is on the scales.

Is there a minimum amount for zinc?

Nope. A single roof channel is weighed as well as a lattice box die casting. Only transport is limited: by DHL up to 1,000 kg Germany-wide, per parcel maximum 31.5 kg; collection from 500 kg; delivery in Ludwigshafen am Rhein without minimum quantity. Payments are made from 25 euros.

How do I distinguish zinc from galvanized steel?

The magnet decides in two seconds: zinc is not magnetic, galvanized steel adheres. If in doubt, file an edge – if it remains grey, it is zinc; if it becomes rust brown after days, iron was underneath. After a few bends zinc sheet breaks brittle with crystalline surface, steel sheet bends further.

Can I send zinc and galvanized steel together?

Better not. Galvanized steel is iron scrap, and an unseparated mixture is billed according to the kind it actually gives – which results in the proceeds for real zinc. Sort with the magnet before, then the delivery is clear and the weighing is faster.

Private or commercial – does that make a difference?

Not when you buy it, but when you settle it. Private customers receive a weighing slip and payment. We charge companies by credit in accordance with § 14 para. 2 VATG; for scrap metal, the recipient of the benefit owes the tax in accordance with § 13b para. 2 no. 7 VATG. Roofers and installers usually supply themselves.

Do varnish, chrome and roof board have to be removed?

Coating and chrome on zinc sheet or die casting do not interfere. Iron parts must be removed: nails, screws, steel axes in fittings and riveted steel sheets. You should knock off the roof board, sealant and concrete residues, because everything that hangs on the zinc is later on the calibrated scale.

Is there a minimum amount of lead?

No, there's no minimum quantity. Lead is so dense that a small carton quickly reaches the limit of 31.5 kg per package; you can send in up to 1,000 kg throughout Germany. We pick up from 500 kg and delivery to Ludwigshafen am Rhein is possible without minimum quantity. Payments are made from 25 euros.

How can I recognize lead safely?

Lead is not magnetic, it is extremely heavy for its size and the softest metal in the range: the fingernail leaves a trace, a knife cuts chips. Freshly cut, it shines brightly and starts in matte grey within hours. It sounds dull, without any reverberation – unlike zinc.

Do you accept lead batteries and car batteries?

Nope. We do not buy lead batteries, starter batteries and emergency power cells. Trade is obliged to withdraw, and municipal collection points are also taken. Ammunition, cartridges and fund ammunition are never part of a package; police and combat equipment clearance services are also responsible.

What happens to sand and earth in the bullet lead?

Foreign components are included on the calibrated balance and lower classification. The bullet lead from the ball catch should therefore arrive dry and as sifted as possible. Lime and mortar on tube lead are unproblematic in small remains; whole mortar lumps and wet soil you better take out before.

Do I have to separate soft lead and bullet lead?

Yes, these are two separate grades, and the separation is worth it. The person who gives both together is charged according to the grade that actually gives the mixture. Steel clamps on weights, cable residue on lead coat and rubber on apron lead are best taken out before.

Is there a minimum quantity for gunmetal?

Nope. A single pump housing is weighed as well as a barrel of chips. The transport route sets the limits: by DHL up to 1,000 kg Germany-wide, per package maximum 31.5 kg, collection from 500 kg, delivery in Ludwigshafen am Rhein without minimum quantity. The minimum payout is 25 euros.

What if it's bronze instead of gunmetal?

Tin bronze has more tin than gunmetal, is harder, brittle and looks brownish-grey rather than reddish; it is mainly stuck in snail wheels and sliding bearings. Both of them are hard to separate with the eye. When selling, choose the most suitable grade – calculated according to the actual grade on the scale.

Can chips be wet?

Nope. Gunmetal chips should be dry, drained and free of iron and aluminium chips. Cooling lubricant and grinding sludge are not part of the purchase, but of the disposal specialist operation. Pack chips into dense buckets, double sacks, barrels or big bags so that nothing goes out during shipping.

Do fittings have to be disassembled beforehand?

You should remove plastic handles, ceramic cartridges, rubber seals and screwed-in steel parts. What's left of iron is made of the piece of mixed scrap. Sand and concrete cores in pump housings are best broken out because every foreign component is later on the calibrated balance.

How fast is the money coming, and how do businesses calculate?

The payment is made within 24 hours of receipt of the weighing slip. We charge companies by credit in accordance with § 14 para. 2 VATG; for scrap metal, the recipient of the benefit owes the tax in accordance with § 13b para. 2 no. 7 VATG. From €1,000 payment, the Money Laundering Act requires an ID card.

Do I see the proceeds before I sell?

Yeah. Once you have entered grade and quantity, the amount per line is in the sales basket, including the selected shipping costs or collection costs. The final amount is calculated from the weighing: the actual weight is weighted on a calibrated scale and the actual grade is billed.

What if the grade is classified differently?

The initial classification is done on sale by selecting the grade. It is calculated according to the actual grade. What grade and weight were counted is on the weighing slip and on the credit note; the weighing slip is yours. Separately packaged, labeled grades therefore regularly carry more than one mixed item.

Is there a minimum quantity?

No minimum weight, but a minimum payment of 25 euros. This limit applies to the amount left over after deduction of shipping costs or collection costs — the sales basket indicates this as long as it is not reached. To top the parcel shipping ends at 1,000 kg, over it we pick up from 500 kg throughout Germany.

When exactly is the money coming?

Within 24 hours of receipt of the weighing slip, by bank transfer or PayPal; 2 percent of the amount will be withheld from PayPal. With self-delivery in Ludwigshafen, it is possible on request to use cash at the scales. The money laundering law requires a valid ID card from 1,000 euros.

Can I cancel a sale?

Free up to 12 hours after graduation. After that, the purchase contract is binding and there is a cancellation fee. Conversely, the price guarantee applies for five working days: We accept the goods at the agreed kiloprice for such a long time, even if the stock exchange is declining in the meantime.

I'm a company, how is it billed?

About a credit according to § 14 para. 2 UStG, which we issue; we do not need an invoice from you. In the case of scrap metal, the beneficiary owes the tax in accordance with § 13b para. 2 no. 7 VATG, the credit indicates this note. For current seizures we agree fixed conditions instead of daily price per delivery.

What if my package is heavier than 31.5 kg?

Then it is distributed over several packages. 31.5 kg is the limit per package at DHL, not the limit of this route: We calculate the required number and send a label for each package, up to the total limit of 1,000 kg per operation. You can only switch over to pick-up from 500 kg or delivery.

Where do I get the shipping label?

From us, usually within one working day after completion, as PDF by e-mail and per package of one. They stick it on and deliver the packages in a DHL branch or a parcel shop. You will pay nothing at the receiving point; the 6 euros per package will be charged later with the payment.

How long do I have to leave the packages?

For five working days, the kilo price agreed upon at the conclusion applies. If the packages are left behind, we will remember once after five days; after 14 days we may cancel the process. If you notice that it takes longer, you better get in touch with them first — a new label is created faster than a process is revived.

How much is the collection cost exactly?

They are staggered according to the distance between your location and Ludwigshafen and lie between 40 and 350 euros. It is calculated with the crow flies, not with the route. You will see your level at the end of the sale, i.e. before the trip; the amount will be charged with the payment and shown on the credit note.

Is there a weight on the spot?

Nope. A truck does not have a calibrated scale on board, so it weighs at the factory in Ludwigshafen: empty and loaded, the difference is your weight. You'll get the birth certificate, it's yours. If you want to be there while weighing, self-delivery is the right way.

What does the driver need on site?

A loading station that a truck can get to, the information on whether crane or forklift is needed, and someone that can be contacted. Close courtyards, underground garages and soft surfaces decide on the vehicle, not the amount. Individual parts should be chargierable, i.e. not more than 1.5 metres long.

What if I have less than 500 kg?

Then the parcel shipment leads to money faster: up to 31.5 kg per package, up to 1,000 kg per process, 6 euros per package, label from us. Those who sit close to Ludwigshafen often advance cheaper themselves, Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and without appointment. The 500 kg shall be valid for all types of a process.

Do you accept chips with cooling lubricant?

Yes, they are assumed, but emulsion and oil lower the classification: The liquid weighs along on the calibrated balance, it is not paid, and when melted it does rework. Drain the chips in the container, or even fling or briquette. Free standing emulsion in the barrel is the most common reason for a lower grade.

Do I have to remove inserts from the cassettes?

Yeah, it's almost always worth it. The plate itself is solid carbide, cassette, clamp holder and carrier body are steel. If they stay on, they're connected in the container and the analysis is lower. The release takes seconds per plate. Killed cuttings on steel bodies belong in a separate container, not to the loose plates.

How do I know whether a tool is HSS or solid carbide?

Weight and magnet. Solid carbide is about twice as heavy as HSS of the same size and adheres to the magnet only weakly, HSS clearly. In addition, the fractured edge: carbide breaks brittle and splinters, HSS bends rather. In case of doubt, put the tool aside, because we evaluate mixed containers according to the weaker grade.

How many times do you pick up?

From 500 kg, and the clock depends on your level, not on the calendar. With chips from ongoing production, these are often a few weeks, and with carbide it takes longer because the weight is stuck in a bucket. We agree to regular pick-up by arrangement. Depending on the distance between 40 and 350 euros, the pick-up costs are fixed before the trip.

Can I get a credit for the bookkeeping?

Yeah. We charge for commercial deliveries by credit in accordance with § 14 para. 2 VATG, so you do not write an invoice. VAT is not based on the fact that the recipient of the benefit owes the tax on scrap metal, § 13b para. 2 no. 7 VATG. In addition, the weighing slip of the calibrated scale with grade, weight and date; is paid within 24 hours.

Do steel spindles and iron cores need to get out of the fittings?

Where it can be done without much effort, yes. Steel spindles, pressed-in cores, pin screws and bearing shells made of steel make of tap brass mixed goods. The magnet shows in seconds what's still inside. Chromium-plated and nickel-plated surfaces work the same way, but cannot be removed; we sort them out during the evaluation.

Do you use copper pipe with soldering points and insulating wool?

Soldering points and small soldering tin residues at fittings do not change the grade, copper tube runs as copper Raff. Insulation wool, mortar and cement residues belong, and there is no water in the pipes, because it weighs with it and is not paid. Brass fittings better pull them out, they have their own, other daily price.

Do you take lead from the fireplace connection and old lead pipes?

Yes, we buy lead, lead sheets and tube lead. Clean soft lead brings the best proceeds, color, mortar and iron adhesions press the classification. Collect it in your own closed container. We do not accept batteries and batteries, lead exclusively as metal and not as a cell with housing and acid.

What about cable with plugs?

Device and connection cables with plug housing run as Cu plug cable with around 30 percent copper, the lowest cable stage because housing and contact parts are important. You better cut off heavy power supply blocks and roll-on housing. If plug cables are in the bag with mixed cable, we sort them out before weighing.

How do you classify when cables of different design are combined?

By conductor part, not by diameter. An armed earth cable with steel tape falls deeper despite strong cross-section, a slim-coated feed line is clean at 70 percent. If everything is together, we sort it out in front of the scales and weigh each type separately. The actual grade shall be invoiced, not on the date of sale.

Is stripping worth it in your own company?

This is decided on the cross-section: With strong supply lines almost always, because bare ladders as copper Millberry is the highest copper grade. With fine strands and multiple enveloped data lines rarely, there the working time eats the difference. The comparison of daily prices of cables and bare wire shows it in your case.

Do engines have to be disassembled?

Do not disassemble, already decompose: gearboxes, flanged pumps, fan hoods, clamping boxes with electronics and loose cable remnants belong to, remaining stator, rotor and housing. So they run as electric motors without attachments, up to 500 kg per engine. Rust, oil and bolted steel consoles lower the classification, we calculate separated composite lines separately.

What do you get for 1 kg of copper?

One kilogram brings the daily price of its grade – and the span is large: Blankes Millberry stands above, started or painted copper clearly below, cables are calculated according to their conductor share. The table above shows the copper price kg for each grade. It is important to know that for a single kilogram the journey is not worthwhile, because the proceeds for each copper grade are less than the minimum amount of 25 euros per process. It becomes meaningful from several kilograms or together with other scrap metal.

What good does copper do to the scrap dealer?

What is written on the weighing slip is the NETTO weight of the grade times daily price – not the gross weight of the scale. Insulation, iron parts, soldering tin and moisture do not pass as copper. Weighing on a calibrated scale, the weighing slip is yours, and will be paid out within 24 hours. You choose the grade yourself at the time of registration; it is calculated according to the actual grade on the scale.

What is the current scrap price for copper cables?

In the case of cables, the copper content in the cross-section, not the weight, decides. A thick earth cable brings much more than an equally heavy roll of thin mantle line per kilogram – the difference lies in the proportion of the conductor alone. Therefore, there are several types of cables instead of one price, staggered by copper content. What grades we distinguish and what they bring today is under Copper cable purchase.

How much is 500 g of copper worth?

Half a kilo brings half the kilo price of its grade – and is therefore far below the minimum amount of 25 euros per process for each copper grade. This amount is not worth selling as a private sale. Put them to what else is involved: brass, aluminum and stainless steel are billed in the same process, each grade with its own price. So the amount comes together without you driving twice.

How much copper can you give in a year?

There is no fixed legal limit in kilograms or euros in Germany: As a private person, you are allowed to give out as much copper as you have. Three other points are crucial. First, the origin. You can only sell what belongs to you – for example from your own renovation or from pipes and pipes of your own house. Material from a construction site or the employer usually belongs to the customer or company; anyone who sells it privately risks the accusation of embezzlement. For larger quantities and for new cable we therefore ask about the origin. Secondly, frequency and scope. Those who occasionally give away their own household items or material from the renovation sell privately. Those who sell regularly and with the intention of profit, thus collect, buy or systematically take material from orders, can be classified as commercial by the tax office – with business registration and taxable income. There is no fixed limit to this, it depends on the individual case. Thirdly, the duties of purchase. Every purchase is documented, and in the event of major payments, the Money Laundering Act requires an ID card. In short: to give up your own old copper occasionally is unproblematic, even in larger quantities. Those who regularly sell or cannot safely prove their origin will better clarify this with a tax consultant in advance. This is not legal or tax advice.
