Zinc Price & Zinc Scrap Price Current
The zinc scrap price is current today: What zinc brings today – daily price for zinc sheet and die-cast zinc, and how you can identify galvanized steel.
2,00 €/kg
for zinc – the grade with the highest classification. With the quantity scale up to 2,10 €/kg from 500 kg.
The gradeZinc prices by grade – and sell directly
There is not one zinc price, but one per kind. What your scrap metal does is determined by purity, alloy and adhesion – not by weight alone. Enter your amount: The expected proceeds are immediately next to it, and you can put the grade right into the sales basket.
Daily prices, daily checked. They apply to pure scrap metal. The decisive factor is the calibrated weighing after the assessment – the data are a guideline, not a commitment.
What Your Zinc Brings by Weight
Calculated with today's price for zinc – the highest classification – and with the quantity scale, not with the basic price times quantity. Started, lacquered or alloyed scrap metal lies below; the grades above show how much.
| Quantity | Price per kg | Revenues at best classification |
|---|---|---|
| 1 kg | 2,00 € | 2,00 € |
| 10 kg | 2,04 € | 20,40 € |

Zinc price current: the state of today
A zinc price is always only valid for the day it is created – therefore the table is at the top of this page and not in the flow text. For Zinc we lead a grade and to this the present state with date. The neighbouring metals are in the overview Metal prices.
Why the price of zinc is moving
Zinc is listed on the London Metal Exchange, daily and in dollars. Fine zinc is recorded in standard bars, not what you have.
The quotation is driven by the construction industry and corrosion protection: a large part of the zinc produced goes into galvanizing steel, another in die casting for vehicle and fitting construction. If the construction stops, the price will drop. The stand at the top is followed every working day.
Why the purchase price is below the quotation
Between your scrap metal and the quotation is work: sort, remove iron parts, weigh, transport to the hut, burn off when melting – zinc evaporates early. In addition, there are reductions for contamination: mortar on sheet metal, plastic and steel inlays in die casting. A larger, cleanly separated amount distributes the effort over more kilos, hence the quantity relays.
What distinguishes the zinc price per grade
We're running zinc as a sort; the work is to separate real zinc from what looks like.
Zinc sheet is rolled zinc: gutters, drop pipes, roof covers, titanium zinc strips. It is matte light grey and bendable, but remains brittler than lead and cracks at the sharp kink.
Zinc diecasting, in the trade Zamak, is cast zinc with aluminum and copper content: door handles, fittings, rice caps, carburettor housing. Recognizable on cast seam, casting residue and grainy fracture surface – and weight: A die casting part weighs about two and a half times the size of an equally large aluminium part.
Galvanized steel It's not zinc. The zinc layer is only a few hundredths of a millimeter thick, underneath it sits steel. Cable platforms, shelves and corrugated sheets are classified in iron scrap, not in this grade; see Scrap metal buying. The magnet is the whole test: what holds is steel; what does not hold, is bright and does not rust can be zinc.
Selling zinc: this is how it comes to
You send up to 1,000 kg by DHL throughout Germany, in packages of a maximum of 31.5 kg; the shipping label comes from us by e-mail, 6 euros per package will be charged with the payment. We pick up from 500 kg all over Germany – the collection costs are staggered after distance (40 to 350 Euro) and are fixed before the journey. Amount and condition signify the Tender form. Or you can bring it yourself: Industriestraße 4, 67063 Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., without appointment. Further delivery points follow, more under Delivery.
Weighing on a calibrated scale, the weighing slip is yours. Payment is made within 24 hours, starting from a minimum payment of 25 euros.
What you can do for a good price
Take the magnet in your hand before you pack: Each galvanized steel part pulls down the rating because it weighs, but is not zinc. Screws and steel springs made of fittings are removed in minutes.
The initial classification is done by selecting the grade at the time of sale; it is calculated according to the actual grade. The neighbouring grades are listed under Lead, zinc & electric motors.
Zinc Price per kg: sheet metal, die casting and galvanized steel
Zinc sheet of roofs and gutters is the clean shape and stands on top. Die casting of housings and toys is below because aluminium and iron are co-alloyed. Galvanized steel is not zinc, but steel with a thin coating – it is billed as steel, even if it looks silvery.
Zinc scrap price: the magnet decides
The most common confusion with zinc is galvanized steel, and the magnet clarifies it in two seconds: if it sticks, it's steel underneath. Genuine zinc sheet is unmagnetic and can be bent by hand. Old gutters are mostly titanium zinc and belong to the higher grade.
Questions about Zinc
What's the zinc price on?
At the listing for zinc on the London Metal Exchange. Zinc is mainly produced together with lead from the same ores, and most of it goes into galvanizing. A discount on the stock exchange price remains with the Altzink: zinc oxidizes at the surface, and when melted a part evaporates. Rolled zinc from roof and channel is therefore better there than rolled product.
Is galvanized steel zinc?
No, that's the most common mistake. Galvanized plates, pipes and fences are iron scrap with a few micrometers of thin zinc layer — the magnet adheres immediately. Pure zinc does not attract the magnet, can be bent, sounds dull and carries a uniformly grey oxide skin. A scratch sample creates clarity: for galvanized products, the bare steel is below it.
Do I have to remove bitumen and nails from the old zinc sheet?
Yeah, both weighs with no zinc. In the dismantling, roof board, bitumen, mortar, gutter iron and steel nails as well as old paints come along; rolled-up gutters full of foliage and mud are the classic. Soldered seams add lead and tin. Roughly knocked off, iron parts out, bitumen pieces separated — then rolling zinc remains with its kind.
Is a single zinc channel enough, or does it have to come together more?
A channel goes, but rarely comes over the minimum payment of 25 euros, because zinc sheet is thin and light. With a roof renewal, several hundred kilograms are quickly combined: from 500 kilograms we pick up all over Germany, including shipping up to 1,000 kilograms in packages of a maximum of 31.5 kilograms. Smaller quantities will take you to Ludwigshafen.
Do you buy zinc sacrificial anodes?
Yes, zinc anodes from boilers, storage, boats and steel structures run as zinc. The threaded bolt or steel core belongs out, otherwise it weighs with — sawn off this is done in a minute. Strongly consumed anodes do little because there is hardly any metal left. Also check if it is really zinc: Magnesium anodes are remarkably light.
