Tin price current: the state of today

A tin price is always only valid for the day it is created – therefore the table is at the top of this page and not in the flow text. There you will find the stand per grade with date: Tin 99 %, Tin 90 %, Tin 60 %, Tin 30 % and Tin solder. The neighbouring metals are in the overview Metal prices.

Why Tin Price Moves

Tin is listed on the London Metal Exchange, on a daily basis and in dollars. Fine tin is recorded in standard bars, not what happens in a workshop. From quotation and exchange rate the tin price arises from the news.

Tin is a narrow market: few producing countries, and demand depends on electronics production – every soldering point on each board is made of tin. Therefore, the quotation in case of delivery failures is harder than in case of copper. The stand at the top is followed every working day.

Why the purchase price is below the quotation

What you're sending in is not a barrentin. Between your delivery and the quotation is work: separating foreign metals, determining content, weighing, transport to the hut, burning up when melting. In addition, there are reductions for pollution – oil, flux residues, sand – and the alloy content that weighs but is not co-paid. Larger quantities of a grade distribute the effort over more kilos, hence the quantity stages.

What distinguishes the tin price per grade

In tin, the tin content counts and exactly after that the grades are named. Tin 99% is almost pure tin – bars, anodes, block tin, clean processing residues. Tin 90% and tin 60% are alloys with lead or antimony content, such as in storage shells, soft solders and old pipe connections. Tin 30% is lead-rich lot. tin solder summarizes wire, rods, sections and deposits from soldering baths.

If the content is not on the bar, a hammer stroke helps on an edge: a bump that stops pointing to tin. If the piece is riced up and appears dull, greasy and dark grey, lead is in play. If it bounces back and breaks brittle, it was zinc. Tin remains silvery-light.

Weighing on a calibrated scale, the weighing slip is yours. Payment is made within 24 hours, starting from a minimum payment of 25 euros.

What you can do for a good price

You can't influence the listing, the sorting already. Separate by salary: A mixed delivery is assessed according to the weakest percentage. Everything on which a magnet adheres belongs out – screws, steel cores, clamps.

The initial classification is done by selecting the grade at the time of sale; it is calculated according to the actual grade. The whole group is under Non-ferrous metals.

Tin purchase: pure tin, table tin and soldering tin

Tin comes in three forms, and they are far apart. Reintinn is most valuable, crockery tin contains lead and antimony, soldering tin additionally fluxes and copper residues. This can be distinguished with the hammer: Reinzinn gives in softly, crockery tin sounds harder. You can see the grade we use in the table above.

Tin price per kg: depending on the content

The kilo price follows the tin content, and it rarely stands somewhere with old pieces. Stamped information on tin dishes often indicates the minimum content. In case of soldering, it decides whether it is leady – that changes the grade. We accept small quantities by parcel delivery, we pick up larger quantities.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about tin

What is the price of tin and soldering?

The quotation for tin on the London Metal Exchange is clearly higher than copper, because few countries are producing and the supply is scarcely responding. In soldering, the tin content also decides: we produce grades of around 30 to 99 percent. The rest is mostly lead, and lead is many times cheaper. Therefore, the inscription of the coil belongs to the product.

How do I distinguish pure tin from soldering?

Pure tin is light silvery and so soft that it can be bent by hand; when bending, it crunches audiblely, the old tin cry. Soldering tin with lead content looks matter and greyer. The safest indication is on the article itself: coils and rods bear the designation, for example Sn60Pb40 or Sn99. Cups and dishes are usually stamped with tin content or Britannia.

What's the price on soldering sticks?

flux in the core of the wire, plastic coils on which the residual wire sits, and soldered copper from dissolving work. The most powerful is the soldering varnish: it is to a good extent oxide and, when melted in, returns less than bare goods. Wire wrapped from the coil, slag collected separately — so each grade remains at its set.

Is a small post worth soldering, or should I collect?

Both are carried out because tin is highly valued: just a few kilograms are above the minimum payment of 25 euros. Collecting is worth twice — each Package costs 6 Euro shipping costs, which depart from the payout, and each grade has a quantity squadron, from whose limit we pay more. From the Rhein-Neckar-Raum bring the cardboard to Ludwigshafen without an appointment.

Do you buy old tin cups and tin figures?

Yeah, like tin. Check the stamp beforehand: Information such as 95 percent or Britannia stands for high tin content, older dishes often contain lead and antimony. Also check the collector's value — in the case of guild cups, jugs and figures with a brand, it is often higher than the metal value. Felt, wooden handles and glass floors are predetermined.
