Widia turning cutter plates are the classic among tool scraps: low volume, high weight, high value. We buy from machining plants, tool grinding plants and private individuals – in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and throughout Germany.

What counts to Widia turning cutters

Widia turn-on plates – usually called indexable inserts or WSP in operation – are made of solid carbide: sintered tungsten carbide with a cobalt binder. That's exactly the value, not the coating. We take worn and minted plates, individually sorted out or collected. The classification takes place after analysis, not after appearance: A dark, multiple-turned plate can lie better than a shiny on steel beams.

Typical seizure sites

Rotating, milling and drilling are the main components. In addition, there are remaining stocks from warehouse clearances, special plates from the sample construction and return runs from the tool grinding plant. If you want to sell indexable inserts, it is best to collect them separately from the start in a lockable container.

Which lowers the classification

Soldered cuttings bring solder and steel body with, screwed-on clamp holders and cassettes as well. Coatings such as TiN or TiAlN are non-critical, but coolant residue is not: oil and emulsion weigh along and pollute the batch. Drain the plates and cool dry.

Delimitation to HSS

HSS high-speed steel is not tungsten carbide, but high alloy tool steel – the most common confusion when buying carbide. Tungsten carbide is twice as heavy and significantly weaker on the magnet. Because small quantities reach high values here, the parcel shipping for carbide is the obvious way. However, carbide is heavier than it looks: one litre weighs about 14 kilograms, almost twice the weight of steel. A filled shoe box would therefore be well above the limit of 31.5 kg per package. Therefore, take small, solid boxes and fill them half.

Choose grade, specify quantity, receive shipping label, deliver package. We weigh, then pay off. Everything is possible up to 1,000 kg per shipment. Pack heavy and small: double carton, plates in solid bags, no loose bulking.

From what amount is the collection worthwhile

From 500 kg we pick up Germany-wide with our own fleet. The collection costs are staggered after distance and are fixed before the journey. Tungsten carbide alone rarely reaches this limit – together with other workshop scrap quickly.
