What counts as scrap metal?

Waste metal is any metal that has fulfilled its original purpose and is intended to return to the circuit. The term says nothing about the condition: An bent radiator is just as scrap metal as a carton of pure copper wires or a set of aluminium rims after the wheel change.

A single distinction counts for the price – ferrous metals against Non-ferrous metals. Iron and steel make up the bulk of the quantity, but they are the least important per kilogram. Non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass, aluminium, tin, lead and zinc are many times higher. A magnet separates both in seconds: it does not adhere to iron, copper or aluminium.

Construction debris, insulation materials, household waste and components containing asbestos are not considered as scrap metal. We do not accept batteries and batteries – for this the trade is obliged to take back, and the municipal recyclables courts also take them.

Many buyers mention prices only on request. We show our Purchase prices per kg open on the website – daily and daily checked. So you know before selling what your scrap metal is worth and can compare in peace.

Three factors determine your income:

Variety purity – cleanly separated copper brings a multiple of mixed scrap. We are happy to advise you whether a separation is worthwhile.
Quantity – for larger items (from about one ton) we create individual offers that may exceed the list prices.
Daily course – Metal prices fluctuate daily. Our price is valid at the time of your sales registration.

Weighing is done on a calibrated scales, your payment is made within 24 hours after weighing – by bank transfer or by self delivery on request cash.

How to sell your scrap metal – three ways

Parcel shipment: Germany-wide up to 1,000 kg

For smaller quantities up to 1,000 kg, shipping is the most convenient way: you register your sale online and receive from us DHL shipping labels by email – one per package up to 31.5 kg. Each package will be charged 6 € shipping costs with your credit. Packing, hand in, ready: After receipt and weighing we pay out within 24 hours.

Collection: from 500 kg with own fleet

From 500 kg we get your scrap metal Germany ==References== The collection costs depend on the distance of the material location to our site in Ludwigshafen: up to 30 km 40 €, up to 60 km 120 €, up to 100 km 180 €, up to 150 km 250 €, over 350 €. The amount will be calculated directly in the sales application and transparently deducted from your credit – no hidden costs.

Self-delivery: free of charge, with cash payment

Bring your scrap metal directly to our recycling facility: Industriestraße 4, 67063 Ludwigshafen am Rhein, open Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 18:00 – no appointment. We weigh on the spot on calibrated scales, you will receive your amount immediately, on request in cash (against ID card template, up to €9.999 – we transfer higher amounts according to money laundering law). This is the fastest way for customers from Ludwigshafen, Mannheim, Frankenthal, Speyer, Worms and the entire Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.

Disposal or sale of scrap metal?

For many, "disposing" sounds like costs and selling "returns. With metal, it is the same procedure with the opposite sign: you pay nothing for the assumption that you get money for it – even for mixed deliveries.

Costs are only incurred where we provide a service: at collection, staggered by distance, or when we place a container. These positions are deducted from the credit note and are fixed before the order. There's nothing wrong with self-delivery.

Our farm is located on Industriestraße 4 in 67063 Ludwigshafen am Rhein – Mannheim starts directly opposite the Rhine Bridge, Frankenthal, Speyer and Worms are reachable in less than half an hour. Open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, without appointment and without prior reservation. Do I need an appointment?

Nope. Self-delivery is possible Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 18:00 without registration. We will arrange an appointment for pickups after your sales registration.

Does MKM Metals buy from private individuals?

Yes – we buy from private and commercial. We only need your contact details for the payment; in case of cash payment, an ID document. Cash payment is possible up to 9,999 €, over which we pay by bank transfer (money laundering law).

How fast do I get my money?

In case of self-delivery immediately, otherwise within 24 hours after weighing by transfer.
