Calculated with today's price for clean alloy rims of 1,80 €/kg. The weights are experience values without tires – a lightweight rim weighs less than a wide multi-spoke rim of the same size.

Indicative values at daily price, no commitment. The calibrated weighing and the assessment on site are decisive.

Clean or unclean – that's the whole difference

In the case of the Alufelgen scrap price, one single question decides on the proceeds: Is the rim blank or is there anything else?

As clean a rim without tires, without balancing weights, without valve and without wheel screws. This is pure aluminum, and it's paid accordingly. As soon as iron parts stick to it – and balancing weights are almost always made of lead or zinc for older rims, the valve often made of brass with steel core – the rim falls into the grade Unclean back.

The distance between the two grades is considerable. Knock off the weights and pull out the valve takes two minutes per rim and almost always pays off. Whether it is worth it in your case shows the gap between the daily prices of both grades.

With or without tyres

We accept rims with reared tires, but evaluate them significantly lower: the tire has to be down, and that is work we do otherwise. Anyone who has the opportunity to have the tire removed beforehand will get the price of clean goods.

This is how you calculate: A raised tire weighs eight to twelve kilograms depending on its size. This weight lies on the scale, but is not an aluminium – it is not a result, it is against it.

Steel rims are different

Steel rims look similar, but are iron scrap and bring a fraction of what aluminum rims achieve. The simplest test is a magnet: it adheres to steel, not to aluminium. If you deliver both together, the mixture will be evaluated according to the weaker proportion.

Of course we take steel rims with us – they then run under Scrap and not under aluminum.

Four rims or one trailer full

For a set of four rims, it is worth the delivery at our farm: Industriestraße 4 in 67063 Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, without appointment. You drive to the calibrated scale, we look at the goods together, and you get your money directly.

For larger quantities – tyre trade, workshop, fleet – we collect from 500 kg all over Germany with our own fleet. The collection costs are staggered after distance and are fixed before the journey. A set of rims weighs around 40 kilograms; the 500 kg limit is thus quickly reached during tyre change operation.

You can ship smaller items up to 1,000 kg. For a single set of rims, this rarely pays off – the shipping costs eat up the proceeds. In case of doubt, ask before.

The Libra is Binding

The benchmarks on this page are a calculation aid, not a commitment. The decisive factor is the calibrated weighing with us, together with the assessment: a rim can be lighter or heavier than the average of its size, and the classification determines the condition.

You'll be handed out with the weighing slip. Payment is made within 24 hours, cash upon delivery or by bank transfer. From €1,000, we need an ID card under the Money Laundering Act.

The daily prices of all types of aluminium – not only rims – are listed below Aluminium and in the full list at Metal prices.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about alloy rims

What do you get for four alloy wheels at the scrap dealer?

That depends on the weight and condition. A set of four rims weighs about 30 to 60 kilograms depending on the inch size. Multiplying with the daily price for clean alloy rims results in the proceeds – the table above anticipates it for each size. If tyres, balance weights or valves are still attached, the product falls into the lower grade.

Do you accept aluminium wheels with tires?

Yes, but at a much lower price. The tire has to go down, and we'll do this job. In addition, a tire that is pulled up weighs eight to twelve kilograms, which are on the scales but are not aluminium. If you have the tire removed before, you will get the price for clean goods.

How do I know if my rims are made of aluminium or steel?

With a magnet: it adheres to steel rims, not to aluminium rims. We also buy steel rims, but they run as scrap iron and bring a fraction. Do not throw both together – a mixture is evaluated according to the weaker portion.

Is it worth taking off the balance weights beforehand?

Almost always. It takes about two minutes per rim, and the distance between clean and unclean goods is considerable. Balancing weights are usually made of lead or zinc, the valve often carries a steel core – both make a clean rim an unclean one.

What do I get for steel rims?

Steel wheels are iron scrap and are billed at the scrap price – significantly less than aluminium wheels. A magnet distinguishes both in seconds: it adheres to steel, not to aluminium. Do not throw the grades together; a mixture is evaluated according to the weaker portion.
